Helix Jump is a new endless game by Ketchapp where you drop down between the gaps through the platforms to score points – so while you do jump, the goal is to fall properly. Run Ball – Jump On Helix Road lets you control how far and how high you jump. The longer you hold down your finger on the screen, the more power your ball’s jump will have. If you just need a small jump, a simple tap will do. If you need to overcome larger gaps or obstacles, tap and hold a little longer.

If you fall through one gap, you get one point, but if you fall through multiple gaps in a row, you get increasing amounts of points for each consecutive gap that you fall through – first one, then two, then three, etc, until you hit the ground on the next platform. And if you fall through three or more platforms at a time, then the next platform you hit, you’ll destroy.

Avoid the red-colored slices of each platform. If you bounce on the normal portion of the platform, you’ll simply jump, but if you bounce into the red portion of a platform, you’ll die. The exception is if you drop onto the red part of the platform after skipping three platforms. You’ll just destroy it and move down to the next platform.

None of the levels are exactly endless. Watch the bar that goes between your current level number and the next level number, as that shows your progress on the level. If you can make it down to the end of the level, you’ll move onto the next level. The color of the ball will change, as will the color of everything else on the level, and you will add one point to your multiplier. Additionally, your score will continue to increase, and if you used your ad-continue on the previous level, you’ll get it back on the new level.

With each new level comes a new challenge as well. For example, towards the end of the third level, you’ll get red slices on the platform that move and that dynamically resize themselves in order to throw you for a new challenge. Towards the end of the fourth level, barriers will start popping up to block you from moving dynamically around the level.

Right now, it’s extremely early in the life of the game, so no unlocks are available. However, with the next update, as evidence by the “coming soon” sign on the icon in the main menu, the developers are planning to add unlocks, such as new balls and possibly even new backgrounds.

Touching these will result in an instant fail.Your score will reset and you'll start from the beginning of the level - especially awful, because otherwise you'd be carrying your score over from the previous level. The goal in Helix Jump is to guide your impossibly bouncy ball all the way to the bottom of the level, where you will, erm, finish the level. Game design, right? Your aim will be to get high scores, which you can build by jumping down multiple platforms at a time, and generally not failing, which will reset your score. There are loads of levels to get into, and each is a new opportunity to test your skill. • Just the tip

The danger zones get more, erm, dangerous, as the game goes on, and especially when they are right on the edge of the hole where you'll be dropping down. To make things worse, some of them even move along the platforms, and get in the way of the hole to make it even more difficult to jump down. Yikes. Simply take your time, have some patience, and wait it out. You might want to go for big scores and big combos by sliding down multiple platforms at once, but it could be an untimely end for your high score. | Submitted by HRBEK

We've already said that you'll get big points by flying down past multiple platforms at once without bouncing, but this will also smash through whatever platform you're landing on. All you need to do is fly past at least three platforms. If you bounce on a forth, you'll actually break straight through it and continue - even if you landed on a danger zone! Nice. You can use this to be brave and smash through multiple platforms, all while knowing that danger zones lying in the way can be demolished. | Submitted by HRBEK

• Wall of death

The worst danger zone, by far, is the wall of death. Unlike the other danger zones which are on the platform itself, these stand tall and prevent you from moving about the platform freely, and can also make it much more difficult to drop down to the next platform. These are the absolute worst and can really hamper your progress, as they're tall enough to essentially make the drop down from the upper platform that much more narrow. Luckily though, these, and all of the other danger zones, can be destroyed using our next technique. |
